I started drawing, painting, print making and sculpture in the studio courses that were part of an art history degree at the University of Western Ontario.
Although I use a variety of materials and paints in my art, cold wax and oil is the medium which allows me the most freedom of expression. The viscosity and texture of wax and oil satisfies my desire to work with tactile materials. The wax and oil can be thin and delicate, or it can be a thick, deep, organic surface. The layering of the paint and wax builds a history on the canvas. Recently I've been experimenting with collage elements, inks, and the cold wax/oil medium. I'm looking for more ways to add to the story. "Finding your own” is the objective and the challenge.
